Creativity Meets Code: How Code/Art Fest 2025 Inspired the Next Generation of Innovators

Through a dynamic blend of art and technology, Code/Art Fest 2025 gave students the opportunity to explore computer programming, showcase their creativity, and discover new possibilities in STEM.

A Festival Where Creativity and Technology Come Together

Code/Art Fest 2025 brought together students, educators, and community members for a vibrant celebration of creativity, technology, and learning. Designed to introduce young people to the possibilities of coding through artistic expression, the event offered hands-on experiences that encouraged participants to experiment, collaborate, and build new skills.

In total, the event reached more than 900 individuals, including 350 in-person attendees, 537 virtual participants who joined the livestream, and more than 30 community members who served as judges of student projects.

Code/Art Fest 2025 also marked the program’s 10th anniversary, making the event an especially meaningful milestone. Alumni returned as judges, mentors, speakers, and volunteers, offering powerful examples of the program’s lasting impact. Their involvement demonstrated how early exposure to creative technology can shape future learning and career paths.

Students Showcase Creativity Through Coding

At the center of the Fest were the student competitions. Participants created interactive art, animations, and games using computer programming—projects that blended imagination with technical skill.

More than 790 students from 136 schools submitted projects, showcasing interactive art, games, and animations created through computer programming. Top-performing students were recognized during the awards ceremony, giving participants the chance to share their work with a broader audience and receive professional feedback.

For many students, the experience was transformative, offering a moment where creativity, technology, and confidence came together in powerful ways.

Hands-On Learning for Classrooms

Code/Art Fest also served as a valuable professional learning opportunity for educators. The event welcomed approximately 180 students and 58 K–12 educators, marking the largest teacher-track attendance in the Fest’s history.

Through project-based activities that combine art and computer science, educators gained practical tools and lesson ideas they can bring back to their classrooms. These resources will extend the impact of the Fest to hundreds of additional students throughout the school year.

Expanding Reach Across the Country—and Beyond

Participation in the competitions was not limited to those attending the event in person. Students from 20 U.S. states and four international countries submitted projects, expanding the Fest’s reach far beyond South Florida.

International participation was an unexpected but welcome outcome, sparked by a teacher in Scotland who encouraged organizers to open the competitions to students worldwide.
